Every year - right around Thanksgiving, my team, my family, and I fly into San Diego, board a bus, and cross the border into Ensenada, Mexico.
It's not a vacation. We go to build a house.
Through an organization called Homes of Hope, we spend two full days working with hammers and saws, framing walls - constructing a 20x20 home that looks small, looks tiny. But for a family that has been living without shelter, that 20x20 is a Hampton Castle.
When we finish, we don't put our names on it. We say it's from someone who cares about you. And every time, without fail, it's the greatest moment of that year for everyone.
This year, I'm opening up spots on the trip to Value Builder readers.
The dates are October 15-18 (Thursday through Sunday). We fly into San Diego, the Homes of Hope bus picks us up and takes the group across the border. We stay on campus in clean dorm-style rooms - four to six people, nothing fancy but everything you need. Day one is travel - we get in, get settled, and get ready. Days two and three are full build days, morning to sunset. At the end of day three, we hand the keys to the family. Day four, the bus takes us back to San Diego and we fly home.
Lodging and food are fully covered once you're there. The only thing you need to arrange is your flight to San Diego. We'll be raising the cost of the build separately through a GoFundMe - that link is coming soon. This invitation is for anyone who wants to give their time and show up with their hands.
We typically take about 20 people. Half the spots are already filled. There is no pitch here - no selling, no upsell, nothing to buy. This is an open invitation to anyone who wants to give a few days of honest work and come home with something a closing table can't give you.
